Madhuri Hegde, Ph.D., FACMG

VP and Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Madhuri Hegde is a medical geneticist, a board certified diplomat in clinical molecular genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics, and an ACMG Fellow. Previously, she was the Executive Director of Emory Genetics Laboratory. She received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Bombay and a Ph.D. from the University of Auckland. She completed post-doctoral studies at Baylor College of Medicine.

Ephrem Chin, MBA, BTech(Biotech) Hon, MB(ASCP)CM, QLCCM

Director, Global Lab Operations

Ephrem is an experienced genomics professional and held commercial and scientific/technical leadership roles at Baylor College of Medicine, Emory University and Oxford Gene Technology. He has a Bachelor of Biotechnology with 1st Class Honors from The University of Auckland and a Masters of Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.

Lora J. H. Bean, Ph.D., FACMG

Senior Director of Quality Assurance

Dr. Bean is a clinical molecular geneticist board-certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics and a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics. Previously, she served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Genetics and Senior Director and Regulatory Director of the EGL Genetics (formerly Emory Genetics Laboratory) Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory. Dr. Bean earned her PhD in the Department of Human Genetics at Case Western Reserve University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Emory University.

Taraka Donti, Ph.D., M.S., FACMG

CLIA Laboratory Director

Dr. Donti is an ABMGG-board certified clinical biochemical geneticist. Previously, Dr. Donti was the Assistant Director of the Metabolic Laboratory at Greenwood Genetic Center. He received a M.S degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Doctorate degree (PhD) from Texas A&M University, HSC. He completed his post-doctoral studies and ABMGG Clinical Biochemical Genetics fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.

Christin D. Collins, Ph.D., FACMG

Laboratory Director

Dr. Collins is an ABMGG-board certified clinical molecular geneticist. Most recently she was an Assistant Professor at Emory Medical School and a director of the molecular laboratory at Emory Genetics Laboratory. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida and completed clinical molecular genetics training at Harvard Medical School.

Babi Ramesh Reddy Nallamilli, Ph.D., DABMG

Laboratory Director

Dr. Nallamilli is an ABMGG board certified clinical molecular geneticist. Previously, he was Technical Director of Emory Genetics Laboratory. He received a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Mississippi State University and completed a ABMGG clinical molecular genetics fellowship at Emory University.

Joseph M. Quashnock, Ph.D., HCLD/CC(ABB), FAACC

Laboratory Director

Dr. Quashnock is certified as a High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) and Clinical Consultant (CC) by the American Board of Bioanalysis. Previously, he was the CLIA Laboratory Director at Pediatrix Screening. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Notre Dame and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Dayton.

Zeqiang (Zeq) Ma, Ph.D., M.S.

Director, Clinical Informatics

Dr. Ma brings extensive experience in development and execution of clinical genomic solutions, bioinformatics pipelines, LIMS integration, and clinical data analytical platforms. Previously he was the Associate Director of Medical Informatics at EGL Genetics. He has a Bachelor degree in Biochemistry and received his Ph.D. and Master in Biomedical Informatics from Vanderbilt University.

Fen Guo, PhD, FACMG, FCCMG

Associate Director, Clinical Genomics

Dr. Guo is board certified in laboratory genetics and genomics (LGG) by the America Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics and in molecular genetics by the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists. She earned her Ph.D. in medical engineering and completed her post-doctoral training at the University of Western Ontario. Dr. Guo worked at the London Health Science Centre in London, Ontario before she started her LGG fellowship training at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Guo joined PerkinElmer Genomics in 2020 where she is the clinical reporting director and also oversees the clinical production and R&D for next-generation sequencing.

Xiangwen Chen-Deutsch, PhD, FACMG

Associate Director, Laboratory Services

Dr. Chen-Deutsch is a laboratory director at PerkinElmer Genomics. She is an ABMGG-board certified clinical molecular geneticist. Dr. Chen-Deutsch received her Ph.D. in molecular pathology and completed a clinical molecular genetics fellowship at Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School. She received a clinical medicine degree from Nanjing Medical University and was a clinical pathologist in China.

Rizwan Yousaf, PhD

Assistant Director, Clinical Genomics

Dr. Yousaf is a clinical molecular geneticist, board-eligible for the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. He completed his fellowship in laboratory genetics and genomics at National Human Genome Research Institute (NIH). He did his post-doctoral studies in molecular genetics at National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, NIH, and the University of Maryland. He received his Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of the Punjab.

Dr. Jorune Balciuniene

Jorune Balciuniene, Ph.D., DABMGG

Laboratory Director

Dr. Jorune Balciuniene is board certified in laboratory genetics and genomics (LGG) by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. She joined PerkinElmer Genomics in 2021 after completion of her LGG fellowship training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Balciuniene received her M.S. in Genetics from Vilnius University in Lithuania, and her Ph.D. degree in Medical Genetics from Uppsala University in Sweden. She completed her postdoctoral training on genetic animal models at the University of Minnesota followed by her appointment as an assistant research professor in the department of biology at Temple University in Philadelphia.
